Children's Series
The DeKalb Outdoor Theater announces the addition of a Free Children’s Series to the 2010 summer season. This Children’s Series starts Saturday June 5th and continue every other Saturday until Saturday July 24th. Each of these events is free to DeKalb County children 2nd through 5th grade.
Saturday June 5th is entitled Poetry Slam. The Eckhart Public Library has been working with children in writing poems celebrating the library’s centennial. Winners will get to read their poems from stage! There will be a luncheon for the children served afterwards by Five Loaves Catering. This event begins at 11:00 am and ends at Noon. Public is invited to attend.
Saturday June 19th is entitled Introduction to Theater. Katie Arnt will teach children about theater, rehearse a play and then put on a show! This event begins at 10:00 am and lasts until 1:00 pm when the play will be presented. A cast party luncheon will be served to the children afterwards by Five Loaves Catering. Public is invited to come at 1:00 pm and see the performance.
Saturday July 10th is the Dumpster Drummers. This exciting percussion ensemble teaches kids about recycling while drumming on different types of recycled items. This event begins at 11:00 am and ends at Noon. There will be a luncheon for the children served afterwards by Five Loaves Catering. Public is invited to attend.
Saturday July 24th is entitled Introduction to Dance. Alicia Kaufman of Patricia Krus School of Dance will teach children about dance, rehearse a dance and then perform that dance! This event begins at 11:00 am and lasts until noon when the kids perform their dance. A cast party luncheon will be served to the children afterwards by Five Loaves Catering. Public is invited to come at 11:45 and see the performance.
