AUBURN — The DeKalb Outdoor Theater concludes the second
season of its free Friday Night Performance Series with the Little Big Band this
Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Little Big Band plays favorites from the 1940s to today’s most popular
songs. It’s repertoire features tunes from Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Tommy
Dorsey, Benny Goodman and many others, such as “Fly Me to the Moon,” Come
Fly with Me” and “New York, New York.”
The Little Big Band began in 1991 as the “Friendly Little German Band” with
six musicians. As the band grew, its members decided to play more swing and
big-band music.
Now the band has 12 members including a vocalist. It is a scaled-down version of
the big bands of the 1930s and 1940s, which had up to 20 musicians plus
vocalists.
Gates open at 6 p.m. for Friday’s concert.
Even though the Friday-night series is ending, a lot more activity lies ahead
this season at the Outdoor Theater. For details, visit dekalboutdoortheater.org.
