Forever — The Tribute will play Beatles favorites at a concert Aug. 21 at the DeKalb Outdoor Theater to benefit Serenity House Inc.

AUBURN —A concert under the stars is planned next week to raise funds for an area transitional home for men and women seeking recovery from substance abuse.

Serenity House Inc., with locations in Auburn and Warsaw, will be getting some ‘help’ at a stage show featuring the Beatles tribute band, Forever - The Tribute on Saturday, Aug. 21 at DeKalb Outdoor Theater in Auburn.

Forever-The Tribute is not just a couple of guys playing Beatles’ songs. It’s a full-blown, Beatles-like show, featuring instruments and amplifiers that are authentic and true to the Beatles’ early days of performing. The band attempts to portray the Beatles as closely as possible, from their on-stage demeanor to their hair and clothing. Their jackets were tailored by the owner of Sir Paul McCartney’s original Shea Stadium jacket, making their clothing as detailed and authentic as possible.

The band focuses on the early years of the Fab 4, playing songs such as “All My Loving,” “Please Please Me,” “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Eight Days a Week,” “Help” and “Hard Day’s Night.”

Fort Wayne-based Orange Opera will open for the evening. This band features an early ’70s rock style, and features local musicians Kevin Hambrick (guitar, piano, lead vocal); Bryan Brubaker (bass); Zach Smith (guitar); and Kevin Hockaday (drummer). The combo melds modern energy with vintage vibe to produce music that evokes a cross between the Beatles and Badfinger, Electric Light Orchestra and Wilco.

The concert will be held in Auburn’s new DeKalb Outdoor Theater at 301 S. Center Street. Gates will open at 3 p.m. for this open seating event, with a silent auction featuring prizes donated by a variety of area businesses for which guests can register to purchase. Timmy’s Pizza and BBQ will be onsite to sell food and beverages. Orange Opera will take the stage at 5 p.m., and Forever-The Tribute will perform at 7 p.m. Primary sponsors for the event are Garrett State Bank and Parrish Leasing, Inc.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. They are available at The Cupbearer Coffee House, 531 North Grandstaff Drive in Auburn, or at Wooden Nickel Music, 3422 North Anthony Blvd. in Fort Wayne. Tickets can also be purchased on-line at www.inticketing.com/events/98919.
