Staff Reports

Sunday, 25 April 2010 04:36AUBURN — DeKalb Outdoor Theater will grow in its second season, according to a newly released schedule of events.
This year’s lineup shows 30 events, an increase from 21 in the inaugural year for the theater along the east bank of Cedar Creek.
“I think it’s going to be a great season,” said John Chalmers, president of the theater’s nonprofit corporation.
“We’re pretty excited about having the Fort Wayne Philharmonic come on July 2. That will be a highlight,” Chalmers said.
The Philharmonic will present a concert of patriotic music, cosponsored by the local chapter of Psi Iota Xi sorority.
The orchestra’s concert will be free of charge, just like all of this season’s Friday night shows.
Also new this year are four children’s programs on Saturday mornings. They will include entertainment, participation activities
and a light lunch for the youngsters. Children’s librarian Deb Argast of Eckhart Public Library is planning the events.
“We’re breaking new ground” with the children’s events, Chalmers said.
